Dog on Holiday
Please keep your dog on a lead…
St. Peter-Ording is situated in the middle of Schleswig-Holstein’s Wattenmeer National Park. Our four-legged friends are allowed into the Wattenmeer, but to protect the animals living in the wild they must be kept on a lead. Leads are also compulsory on the dykes, the foreshore and the beaches. This is home to sheep, seals and seabirds, and dogs disturb them foraging, nesting or brooding.
Dogs on the beach…
There are special beach areas for dogs (Hundestrand) at the bathing areas in the Böhl, Bad, Ording and Ording Nord (nudist beach) districts. Leads are also compulsory here for the protection of all guests, and especially the children. Please also remember that on our expansive sandy beaches dogs are subjected to a lot of sunlight. You should always have sun protection and a water bowl for your dog in your beach gear when in St. Peter-Ording.
Dogs in town and in the spa area…
Dogs on leads are allowed in the whole spa area, on the promenade, in the woods around St. Peter-Ording and on the footpaths and hiking trails, in the dunes and the pedestrian precinct. You will find watering stations for dogs in front of many pubs and restaurants, and at the facilities at the Tourist Centre. Dangerous dogs are not desired in St. Peter-Ording. The safety of our guests and residents has absolute priority, which we are sure you understand.
